WE ARE THE MIGRATING CHURCH OF PETÉN

We want a society with families and communities in which the dignity of each man and woman is respected, in solidarity and with the organizational capacities to transform the unjust structures that threaten life.

We want a people’s Church with social programs that, supported in the Gospels and the Social Doctrine of the Church, will be expressed by the participation of Christian communities.  Coordinated by parochial groups in their evangelized Mission, the y will encourage sustainable actions of comprehensive development and to have an impact for the benefit of the Petén region

OUR MISSION

The Pastoral Social is the commitment of the baptized people, inspired by the Good News for the construction of the Kingdom of God of which the focus is life. It works for the realization of concrete actions in community organization, human rights, integral health, education, women´s rights, immigration, land and whatever need the people may have, with focus on gender, multiculturalism, and political decision-making processes. These topics are promoted by distinct parochial groups and integrated into the communal ministry through the coordination of the Pastoral Social of the Vicariate and the various commissions of the Pastoral Social, to contribute to the development of people, families, and communities and the capacity to respond to their principle problems.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

Our objective is to promote and accompany, in communal participation, the way of the faith of the people of God through an integral, liberal, and intercultural evangelization bringing the presence of Jesus to transform the reality of Petén, in a society that is participatory, in solidarity, and just, as a sign and in anticipation for the Kingdom
